Water Safety Ireland School Visit

24th Jun 2026

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Ellie from Water Safety Ireland to our school. Ellie visited all of the classes and delivered engaging and informative water safety lessons for every age group.

The visit was part of the PAWS (Primary Aquatic Water Safety) programme, which teaches children essential life-saving water safety skills and helps them understand how to stay safe around rivers, lakes, beaches, and other waterways. The programme uses age-appropriate lessons, discussions, activities, and interactive learning to reinforce important safety messages.

Throughout the day, pupils learned about recognising dangers near water, making safe choices, and knowing what to do if they or someone else gets into difficulty. The sessions were both educational and enjoyable, and the children participated enthusiastically, sharing their own experiences and answering questions.

We would like to thank Ellie and Water Safety Ireland for taking the time to visit our school and for helping our pupils develop such important water safety awareness. The lessons learned will help our children stay safe and confident around water throughout the year.
