Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents, Guardians and Pupils,

Thank you for visiting our School Website to find out a little more about Scoil Cholmcille SNS.

Scoil Cholmcille is a co-educational, catholic, senior primary School in the Holy Trinity Parish in Donaghmede. We cater for the following cohorts of pupils:

  • Pupils in Mainstream classes from 3rd to 6th Class
  • Three classes for children, between the ages of 4 and 12 years, with a diagnosis of Autism .
  • A Specific Learning Disability Class which caters for children with a diagnosis of Dyslexia or Dyscalculia.

While we are a Catholic School, we are an inclusive school, welcoming and celebrating pupils of all faiths and beliefs. Our feeder Junior School is St.Kevin’s JNS.

We have a wonderful, motivated and dedicated team of Teachers and SNAs who prioritise and are invested in providing a welcoming, respectful, kind and varied learning environment for your child. The focus of our work is the provision of excellent teaching and learning standards to ensure that each pupil is supported in reaching their potential academically, socially and emotionally.

Continuing professional development is prioritised for Teachers, engaging in relevant courses each year to ensure that we as a school are providing and using the most appropriate and up-to-date curriculum content and methodologies as recommended by the Department of Education of Skills.

To achieve our objective of providing a holistic education, Children are provided with the opportunity to explore and engage in new activities and responsibilities through our involvement in initiatives such as Active Schools, Green Schools, Amber Flag for Wellbeing, GAA, Soccer and Spike Ball Tournaments, Discovery Primary Science and Maths as well as having coaches/facilitators in for different activities throughout the year.

Through our involvement in the School Completion Programme we provide an After Schools Club where pupils can complete homework two afternoons a week.

Other after school activities are also offered by Teachers at times during the year which pupils can participate in while developing new skills and talents.

As Principal, I am proud to work as part of this team in Scoil Cholmcille SNS and hope that I have given you a small glimpse of some of what we have to offer your child. I look forward to working with you in the year ahead. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if we can be of any further assistance.

Yours faithfully,
Annette O’Brien
Principal
