Ms. Heaphy's 6th class were busy learning about the process of osmosis during Science Week 2023. They carried out a fun osmosis experiment by placing gummy bears in a variety of solutions including salt water, sugar water and vinegar water, leaving them over night to then examine the changes that occurred the following day. We were really shocked by the results, some of our gummy bears grew to be 4 times bigger than their original size due to osmosis taking place!
The children also learned about the work of a forensic scientist and even got to take samples of their own fingerprints! We had fun examining and comparing each of the unique fingerprint patterns present in our classroom.
