May in Room Eleven
May has been a wonderfully busy and active month in Room Eleven!
We finally completed our Skip Around Europe Challenge, skipping all the way to Italy, Latvia, Portugal, the UK, Lithuania, and Malta. We’ve really improved our skipping skills and had great fun along the way. A big highlight was cheering on Ms. Gahan as she competed in the Fastest Skipper Challenge—go Ms. Gahan!
We also took part in a cycling safety workshop, where we learned about how to stay safe on our bikes, wear our helmets properly, and signal while cycling. It was a very useful and important session for everyone.
In History, we finished our Native American projects and proudly presented them to the class. Each group worked hard and showed great creativity and teamwork!
We brought some colour to our classroom in Art by creating bold and beautiful emu chalk pastel drawings on black sugar paper. They turned out fantastic!
In Maths, we focused on sequencing and number patterns, spotting rules and using them to solve tricky problems. During Active Schools Week, we took our learning outside with an Active Walkway Challenge, getting our bodies and brains moving together.
We started GAA training and are loving every second of it! We also began Zumba classes, which have brought lots of laughter and energy to our days. What fun we’ve had dancing and moving!
Our class finished our novel Danny, Champion of the World. Reading outdoors in the warm weather made the final chapters even more enjoyable.
One of the most exciting moments this month was our trip to the International Literature Festival in Merrion Square. We met Dave Rudden, who shared hilarious stories, talked about his new book Conn of the Dead, and gave us great advice for writing our own stories. What an inspiration!
We also hosted our very own Science Fair! We demonstrated the Magic Milk Experiment and explored some amazing experiments shared by other classes. There was so much to learn and enjoy!
On Wellbeing Day, we relaxed with a peaceful mindfulness walk and calming mindfulness class. It was a lovely way to recharge after all of our hard work on the standardised tests this month.
As we look ahead to June, we’re excited to enjoy our final few weeks in fourth class and make some lasting memories!
