2nd Jun 2026

Room 16 – May Highlights

May has been another exciting and busy month in Room 16, packed with learning, trips, sports, and fun experiences across the curriculum!

🏛 History – GPO Museum Tour
As part of our History learning, we enjoyed a school tour to the GPO Museum. The class learned all about the 1916 Rising and explored the museum exhibits after studying this topic in school. We also became “archaeologists” by excavating cookies, using the chocolate chips as artefacts! We learned about Pompei and Palatine Hill in Italy

P.E. – Rounders & Father Collins Park
In P.E., we have been developing our teamwork and striking skills through rounders. We also had a wonderful trip to Father Collins Park, where everyone enjoyed spending time outdoors and cooling down with ice lollies.

🏃 Santry Athletics
We are very proud of all the boys and girls who represented the school at the Santry Athletics competitions. The students showed fantastic effort, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the events. Well done to everyone involved!

🎼 Music – National Concert Hall
Room 16 visited the National Concert Hall to see a live orchestra performance of Peter and the Wolf. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience live music and learn about the different instruments of the orchestra. We also enjoyed lunch together in St Stephen’s Green afterwards.

🌍 Multicultural Projects
Students worked hard on multicultural projects, researching and presenting information about different countries around the world. It was wonderful to learn about different cultures, traditions, foods, and landmarks.

🇮🇪 Gaeilge Fun
In Irish, we have been practising our oral language skills through lots of interactive games and activities. The class especially enjoyed cluichí such as Scrabble Gaeilge, Headbands (Os mo Cionn), and oral question games, which helped build confidence while having fun.

🌳 Geography Trip – St Anne’s Park
We took part in a Geography field trip to St Anne’s Park. Students explored both natural and human environments while completing a nature walk around the park. We investigated trees, plants, wildlife, and park features while enjoying some fun outdoors together.

It has been a fantastic month in Room 16, filled with memorable experiences, active learning, and lots of fun. We are looking forward to all the exciting activities still to come before the end of the school year! 🌈
