March in 6th class
Room 16 – March Highlights
March has been another busy and exciting month in Room 16, full of learning, creativity, and fun experiences across the curriculum.
📏 Maths – Length & Data
In Maths, we explored length and measurement, learning how to estimate and measure using different units. We explored our heights and the different distances around the school.
We also worked on data, using Smarties to create fun and colourful pie charts and we created class surveys to ask other students in the school to make bar charts.. This hands-on activity helped us understand how to collect, organise, and interpret data in an engaging way.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
We really enjoyed celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge this month. The class took part in a variety of activities including a céilí, where everyone got involved in traditional Irish dancing. We also enjoyed a “Caife Cainteach” and we went to the Siopa Gaeilge. We also proudly wore green to mark the occasion and we were treated to a performance of traditional Irish music. It was a great opportunity to practise our Irish in a fun and lively way.
📚 World Book Day
For World Book Day, students came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. It was fantastic to see the creativity and effort put into the costumes. We also spent time sharing and discussing our favourite books and reading our books in fun places.
🎨 Art – National Gallery Visit
We had a wonderful trip to the National Art Gallery of Ireland, where we explored a wide range of paintings. Students had the chance to observe different styles of art and learn more about famous artworks and artists, such as ‘ The Marriage of Strongbow and Aoife’ by Daniel Maclise and ‘The Meeting on the Turret Stairs’ by Frederic William Burton.
We also enjoyed a trip to the park on a lovely sunny day!
🔬 Science Day
Room 16 took part in Science Day, where we proudly presented our Newtonian Spinner to staff, parents, and other students in the school. It was great to showcase our work and explain the science behind our project.
🌎 Geography – Brazil Projects
In Geography, students researched Brazil and presented their projects to the class. We learned about Brazilian culture, landmarks, climate, and traditions. Everyone put great effort into their work, and the presentations were very informative.
We are very proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm shown this month and look forward to more exciting learning in April! 🌈
