June in Room Eleven ☀️🍦

24th Jun 2026

What a fantastic month we have had in Room 11! June has been packed with exciting activities, memorable experiences and lots of fun as we celebrated the end of another wonderful school year. ☀️

School tour to AstroParks

One of the highlights of the month was our school tour to Astropark in Coolock. We had an amazing day taking part in a variety of activities, including obstacle courses, giant bouncy castles, zorb football, dodgeball, Nerf Wars and volleyball. Although we got very wet throughout the day, we didn't let that stop us and had an incredible time making memories with our friends.

Sports Day 🏃

On the 10th of June, we enjoyed our annual Sports Day. We competed in a range of events including the 100m race, 400m race and relay races. There was also plenty of fun to be had on the bouncy castle, during wheelbarrow races and while playing parachute games. To top off a fantastic day, everyone enjoyed a delicious 99 ice cream!

Multicultural Projects 🌎

This month, we proudly presented our multicultural projects. Groups worked hard researching and creating presentations about South Korea, Thailand, Mexico, Vietnam, Cuba and Albania. We learned so many interesting facts about different cultures, traditions, foods and landmarks from around the world. The quality of the projects was outstanding, and everyone should be very proud of their hard work.

Teach the Teacher! 👩🏻‍🏫📚

One of our favourite activities of the entire year took place this month – Teach the Teacher! The children became the teachers and delivered lessons to their classmates and teacher.

We learned about a huge range of topics, including:

  • GAA skills

  • How to tie shoelaces

  • Making chocolate mousse

  • How to crochet

  • The Philippines

  • Mexico

  • Beta fish

  • The World Cup

  • Water purification

  • The Spanish Empire

  • Football and badminton

Some pupils created fantastic slideshows, others designed Kahoot quizzes, and many got the class actively involved in their lessons. Every lesson was carefully planned and it was wonderful to see everyone's talents, interests and confidence shine.

Multicultural Week 🥋🍜🍚

As part of Multicultural Week, we took part in a Taekwondo lesson with our teacher, Ms Gahan. We practised high kicks, strong punches and even learned some Korean words along the way!

We also enjoyed our highly anticipated Multicultural Day. The school was filled with beautiful displays and delicious food stalls. We sampled foods from Poland, Wales, Kuwait, India, Vietnam, Nigeria and many other countries. It was a wonderful celebration of the diverse cultures within our school community.

This year's Multicultural Day was extra special as we were featured on News2day!

Capoeira Workshop 💚💛💙

To finish off the week, we welcomed a special visitor who taught us Capoeira. We learned about Brazilian culture and enjoyed trying out some of the movements from this unique blend of martial arts, dance and music.

End-of-Year Fun 🌞

As the school year draws to a close, we have been making the most of the good weather. We have enjoyed outdoor picnics, cooling off with ice lollies and spending time together in Father Collins Park.

June has been an unforgettable month filled with learning, laughter and celebration. We are so proud of everything the children in Room 11 have achieved this year and wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable summer break!
