April in 6th class
Room 16 – April Highlights
April may have been a short month, but it was certainly full of fun, learning, and activity in 6th Class!
🇮🇪 Gaeilge – An Aimsir (The Weather)
In Irish, we have been learning all about the weather. The class worked hard to build their vocabulary and confidence, and pupils enjoyed presenting their own weather reports to the class. Bhí sibh ar fheabhas!
🌿 Wellbeing Week
We took part in Wellbeing Week, focusing on looking after our minds and bodies. The class enjoyed a whole-school walk, as well as relaxing circle time each morning. We also explored mindfulness through creative art activities, helping us to slow down and be present.
🏃 Athletics – Santry Trials
A big well done to everyone who took part in the athletics trials for Santry! Students showed great effort and determination while competing in events such as the 100m, 400m, long jump, shot put, and high jump. We are very proud of all who took part and especially those who qualified!
🔬 Science – Circuits
In Science, we had great fun exploring electrical circuits. Pupils worked together to build circuits that could light a bulb and power a motor. It was exciting to see everything working and to understand how electricity flows.
📝 English – Persuasive Writing / Reading with 2nd class
We have been developing our persuasive writing skills, learning how to express our opinions clearly and support them with strong reasons. There were some excellent debates and very convincing pieces of writing!
We were also delighted to welcome 2nd class over for some paired reading!
🎨 Art – Collaborative Creations
In Art, we focused on collaborative work, creating pieces together as a class. Students worked in groups to combine their ideas and creativity, resulting in some fantastic shared masterpieces. We also took elements of other artists works and expanded it, using our own interpretation
