Yesterday, our 4th Class students embarked on an exciting literary adventure at the International Literature Festival Dublin in Merrion Square. They attended the “Meet the Master of Monsters” event with acclaimed Irish author Dave Rudden, who captivated the young audience with tales from his new book, Conn of the Dead. This thrilling story follows 11-year-old Conn, who accidentally unleashes an ancient undead sorcerer from Irish folklore, leading to a suspenseful chase through UCD’s National Folklore Collection.
During the session, Dave shared insights into the writing process, encouraging students to craft their own monstrous characters and stories. He emphasised that creativity is for everyone and that “darkness can be beaten,” inspiring our budding writers to explore their imaginations.
After the engaging workshop, the class enjoyed a sunny picnic on the festival’s loungers and had fun in the Merrion Square playground. It was a day filled with storytelling, sunshine, and smiles—an unforgettable experience that brought literature to life!
