February has been a fantastic and busy month in Room 11! We have been learning, creating, building, and celebrating together.
🔷 Maths – 3D Shape Creations
In Maths, we explored 3D shapes in a hands-on way. Using marshmallows and toothpicks, we worked in teams to build our own 3D models. We made cubes, pyramids, and other interesting shapes while learning about vertices, edges, and faces. It was a fun (and slightly sticky!) way to bring our learning to life.
🍕 World Pizza Day – 9th February
On the 9th of February, we celebrated World Pizza Day by making our own pizzas in the classroom. We carefully chose our toppings and created delicious masterpieces. Best of all — they tasted fantastic!
💻 Safer Internet Day – 10th February
On the 10th of February, we marked Safer Internet Day. We were very lucky to have members of An Garda Síochána visit our school to give us an important talk about staying safe online.
We learned about:

What to do if something makes us feel uncomfortable

The importance of talking to a trusted adult
We also discussed how to use AI tools safely and responsibly, understanding that while AI can be helpful for learning, we must always use it carefully and wisely.
🎨 Visit to the National Gallery of Ireland
We had a wonderful trip to the National Gallery of Ireland. During our guided tour, we explored beautiful paintings and learned about different artists, including Claude Monet. We discovered interesting facts about famous artworks and enjoyed sharing our thoughts about what we saw. It was a very inspiring visit!
🥞 Pancake Tuesday
After our gallery trip, we made it back to school just in time to enjoy some tasty pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. There were lots of smiles as we added our favourite toppings!
🥏 Frisbee Fun
We have been enjoying playing frisbee every Monday. It’s a great way to practise our throwing and catching skills while working as a team and getting active outdoors.
🧱 Lego Creations
Throughout February, we spent time building amazing Lego creations. From feris wheels to cafes and imaginative inventions, everyone showed fantastic creativity and problem-solving skills.
🚤 3D Printing Workshop
We took part in an exciting 3D printing workshop where we worked together to design and create a class boat. It was fascinating to watch the printer bring our design to life layer by layer!
🌻 Crazy Creative Day
We ended the month by celebrating Crazy Creative Day! Our class station was Horticulture, where we planted sunflower seeds. We are looking forward to watching them grow.
